Embarking on my journey at SCCO, I anticipated a year filled with challenges and triumphs, but nothing could prepare me for the whirlwind of emotions and experiences that awaited. As I look back on my first year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the lessons learned, friendships forged, and memories created. Throughout the highs and lows, one thing remained constant – the unwavering support of my classmates and faculty. Whether navigating through academic hurdles or personal struggles, I found solace in the camaraderie of my peers and the guidance of mentors.

Among the countless cherished moments, one stands out vividly – our collective endeavor during finals week, nestled within the confines of the library. Each of us claimed our own sanctuary within its walls, yet we remained connected, offering assistance and encouragement amidst the sea of notes and study guides. For me, the study rooms outside the library became a sanctuary of reflection and collaboration, offering both serenity and space for lively discussions.

Another highlight was our journey to Washington D.C. for AOA on Capitol Hill – a testament to our commitment to advocacy and professional growth. Despite the demands of our studies, we seized the opportunity to engage with legislators, advocating for our profession with passion and conviction. Amidst the meetings and briefings, we found moments of respite, exploring the cultural tapestry of the city and forging lasting bonds with fellow optometry students from across the nation.
