Faces of SCCO is a series featuring various members of our campus community.
Dr. Robert Yacoub, a native of Southern California, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2002. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. He then completed a residency in Primary Care/Geriatric Optometry at the VA Sepulveda Medical Center. From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Yacoub was a clinical optometrist at the Puente a la Salud clinic, which is part of the St. Joseph Health System where he currently retains clinical privileges.
In 2007, Dr. Yacoub joined SCCO as a full-time faculty member with clinical teaching responsibilities in the Primary Care/Ocular Disease Services. He also teaches in ocular disease, ocular health procedures, and clinical medicine laboratories and courses. Dr. Yacoub is currently serving as the Principal Investigator on a phase IV Case Crossover Study and a Co-investigator on another study. Dr. Yacoub passed the Advanced Competence in Medical Optometry exam and is currently working on multiple board certifications that have recently become established. Dr. Yacoub recently won Staff Doctor of the Year 2010, which was selected by the students.He also is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association.
