The White Coat Ceremony marks a student’s transition into the study of clinical health sciences. It is a rite-of-passage ritual where students pledge commitment to their future patients, embracing the responsibility associated with being a doctor of optometry. During the ceremony, students receive their white coat and for the first time, recite the Optometric Oath for students.
The White Coat Ceremony at SCCO is held for the incoming class in the fall. Family and friends attend to celebrate this milestone. Pre-optometry students are invited to watch this video and see what they have in store!
